Frequently Asked Questions

  • Nutritional therapy is a comprehensive functional approach to nutrition and lifestyle. We work together to address the underlying root causes of your priority health concerns using a holistic approach. You will receive customized recommendations that respect your bio-individual goals and needs.

A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) takes an in-depth look at the function and dysfunction of each body system, food quality and sourcing, culinary skills, meal planning, health and wellness barriers and influences, emotional well-being, environmental factors, the importance of sleep and movement, as well as stress and its effect on the body. NTPs are empowered with the necessary motivational interviewing techniques, clinical and practical skills, and cutting-edge knowledge to become highly recognized nutrition and wellness professional in their community. An NTP is certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc.

  • The faith in traditional Western medicine is declining, and doctors' approach to their patients has become disconnected and dysfunctional. We live in an era of chronic illness, and the solution has become a magic-manufactured pill with crippling and dangerous side effects. Out of 328 million Americans, 100 million suffer from diabetes or prediabetes, 46.6 million suffer from mental illness (anxiety, depression), 23.5 million suffer from autoimmune disorders, and rising, 1 in 54 children born with autism, 1.5 million women are on birth control for reasons other than preventing pregnancy, 1.8 million are diagnosed with cancer each year (CDC). The truth is there are long-term, sustainable, alternative, natural, and approachable solutions. An NTP works with you as a supportive guide to find and implement long-lasting solutions while harnessing your body’s innate wisdom to heal.

    • A better understanding of what's causing your symptoms.

    • Get the "true story" & navigate a complex and confusing world of health, medicine, and wellness with a practitioner.

    • Establish a deeper connection with your body and its intelligence.

    • Address and resolve the root issue of your discomfort, disease, or symptoms.

    • Confidently discern which foods are "healthy" for you and work for your specific body.

    • Increase your energy & vitality.

    • Understand what to look out for when grocery shopping & how to prepare foods that maximize nutritional value.

  • Of course! Working with an NTP is beneficial to everyone and anyone — if you are someone suffering from a debilitating or chronic illness or you are a relatively “healthy” individual wanting to gain more understanding of what nourishes you, how your body works, or hoping to help be a resource to a friend or family member, or someone taking preventative measures, or maybe the person that feels like something is off. Note, if you are experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety, depression, mood swings, fatigue, exhaustion, headaches, irritability, bloating, inflammation, swelling, addiction, eating disorders, odd cravings, menstrual cramping, severe PMS, food reactions, rashes or eczema, none of these are “normal” and should consider meeting with an NTP. I offer a free 30-minute consultation to see if nutritional therapy is the right direction for you.

  • Your hair contains all the minerals in your body, including nutritional and toxic heavy metals. HTMA is a laboratory test that measures the mineral content in the hair. It is a preventative screening tool that helps determine the root cause of many chronic and age-related conditions. In most cases, the test results reflect how much of these elements are in your tissues and provide a vivid picture of your internal environment. With this information, a world of metabolic markers can be interpreted. Not only can your nutritional status be viewed, but we can also learn how efficiently your body works.

  • Hair testing has emerged as the most practical method for mineral balance in your body.

It provides a mineral outline and other information regarding your metabolic rates, energy levels, sugar and carbohydrate tolerance, stage of stress, immune system function, and glandular activity, such as your adrenals and thyroid.

The test reveals 29 minerals and their ratios, plus eight heavy metals. With the data from an HTMA, we can gain a better understanding of heavy metal toxicity, mineral/ nutrient deficiencies, your metabolic rate (fast or slow), adrenal + thyroid function, hormonal imbalances, nervous system imbalances, inflammation, energy levels, mental health, liver function, blood sugar imbalances/ diabetes, digestive dysfunction and if any infections or viruses are present.

  • Minerals are the spark plugs in our bodies. The energy exchanges in the combustion of foods and the building of living tissues depend on minerals. Minerals have interrelationships with every other nutrient. The other nutrients are not effectively utilized without optimum mineral levels within the body.

Minerals are necessary for producing hormones, enzyme activity, and more. Depletion of minerals can impact your menstrual cycle, thyroid health, insulin/glucose, metabolism, and digestion, leading to calcification of your tissues, headaches, cardiovascular issues, and so much more.

  • Unfortunately, not at the moment. However, you may be eligible for reimbursement with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), or health reimbursement arrangement (HRA).

  • A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) is a paraprofessional certified by the Nutritional Therapy Association, Inc., trained to evaluate a client’s nutritional needs, support normal function, and identify nutritional deficiencies. An NTP recommends dietary changes, lifestyle considerations, and nutritional supplementation based on client information, assessments, muscle testing, and lingual-neuro testing.

A Nutritional Therapy Practitioner is not trained to provide medical diagnosis or treatment of any medical or pathological condition, illness, injury, or disease.
